A crown is also known as a “cap”. This type of restoration completely caps or covers a tooth or dental implant. This may be needed when a large cavity has compromised a large portion of the tooth. Crowns can improve the appearance of your tooth and also give them longevity.

Crowns are needed in cases when a large portion of the tooth has been decayed and not enough healthy tooth structure remains to hold a filling. They protect weak teeth that would not survive with merely a filling. Crowns can be used to attach to bridges.
