Periodontists are experts in treating patients with severe gum problems. Their additional two to three years of training focuses on performing a variety of surgical procedures including dental implant placement. They also offer treatments like scaling and root planing (deep cleaning). Some periodontal needs can be managed by a general dentist however more extensive treatment may need to be managed by a periodontist. Research shows that periodontal disease is on the rise and may be linked to other chronic diseases. Periodontist can perform procedures such as:

Endodontists are oral healthcare specialists that focus on diagnosing tooth pain and root canal treatment along with other procedures related to the internal tissues of the tooth. In Greek, “Endo” means “inside” and “odont” means “tooth”. Endodontists perform a wide range of procedures ranging from root canals to saving teeth after trauma or injuries.
