Their additional two to three years of training focuses on performing a variety of surgical procedures including dental implant placement. They also offer treatments like scaling and root planing (deep cleaning). Some periodontal needs can be managed by a general dentist however more extensive treatment may need to be managed by a periodontist. Research shows that periodontal disease is on the rise and may be linked to other chronic diseases. Periodontist can perform procedures such as:

Endodontists are oral healthcare specialists that focus on diagnosing tooth pain and root canal treatment along with other procedures related to the internal tissues of the tooth.
